The project began with a client’s need for reliable steam power. Indeck delivered two stock A-Type watertube boilers, each generating 250,000 pounds per hour (PPH) at 700 psig, designed for high efficiency in demanding settings like power utilities or chemical plants. Built at our Indeck St. Hyacinthe facility, these Volcano-series boilers feature advanced combustion controls and high-efficiency economizers. Our engineering team met the client’s exact specifications, ensuring rapid startup, low emissions, and lasting durability. With the boilers complete, the challenge shifted to moving them thousands of miles from the Port of Halifax for their overseas journey.
Logistics Done Right
Indeck’s logistics team orchestrated a flawless operation. The boilers traveled via specialized depressed flatbed railcars, equipped with weather-proofing and GPS tracking, navigating cross-country routes to arrive at the Port of Halifax—ahead of schedule. On a crisp September morning, heavy-lift cranes loaded the boilers onto a massive cargo vessel. Our supervisors ensured precision, from load balancing to securing the units with industrial-grade tie-downs, guaranteeing a safe transoceanic voyage.
